“…Moreover, this non-environmentally friendly process is usually time-consuming and leads to contamination, which is detrimental in later applications, as mentioned above. A mechanochemical approach, which uses green chemistry principles, [42][43][44] stands as a better alternative to prepare cellulose-metal nanoparticle composites. It has already been successfully utilized in the direct synthesis of nanoparticles, [45][46][47][48] functionalization of cellulose, [49][50][51] and preparation of composite catalysts.…”

“…20,21 Mechanochemistry, 22,23 i.e. chemical reactivity induced by mechanical force, has surfaced as a versatile technique for conducting clean, solvent-free reactions in a wide range of areas, including organic, [24][25][26][27][28][29][30] pharmaceutical, 31,32 inorganic, [33][34][35][36][37] organometallic, [38][39][40] supramolecular [41][42][43][44][45][46] and coordination [47][48][49][50] chemistry. Indeed, over the past decade mechanochemistry has provided efficient, rapid routes for the assembly of coordination polymers and microporous MOFs, without resorting to solvents or high temperatures common in solvothermal synthesis, and often from simple, readily accessible reagents.…”

“…[ 19 ] Later there were reports of possibility to synthesize new coordination compounds from pure metals in gaseous phase, [ 20 ] in solutions in the presence of oxidants, as well as mechanochemically. [ 21 ] Additionally, almost all types of coordination compounds can be obtained by direct synthesis: molecular and π complexes, [ 22 ] metal chelates, [ 23 ] dinuclear and polynuclear structures, [ 24 ] etc. For example, direct synthesis was successfully implemented for obtaining N‐heterocyclic carbenes complexes of non‐noble metals from commercially available metal powders, while conventional synthesis of these complexes is a highly complicated task.…”
