Mechanized micro-scale determination of protein in platelet pellet sonicates.

Abstract: With the method described here, samples can be assayed at the rate of 40/h, with increased reproducibility. As described, the method covers an analytical range of 1 to 7 g/liter, but it can be readily adapted to measure different ranges of concentration in other protein preparations.

“…The EPS was extracted from mixed liquor flocs according to the cation exchange resin method developed by Frølund et al For the large reactors (i.e., reactors B, C, D, and E), suspensions of wastewater flocs with a size fraction of 63–106 μm were prepared, while for the small reactors, the 45–75 μm floc size fraction was used. The carbohydrate content of the extracts was measured using the phenol–sulfuric acid method with d -glucose as standard, and the protein content was measured by the BCATM Protein Assay kit and a modified Lowry method using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as standard . Spectrometric readings were measured using the multiwell-plate reader ThermoU Spectra III A-5082 from SLT-Labinstruments (TECAN, Durham, NC, USA).…”
