Mechanistic and structural studies of the MHC I peptide loading complex

Abstract: The peptide loading complex (PLC) is a central machinery in adaptive immunity ensuring antigen presentation by major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC I) molecules to immune cells. If nucleated cells present foreign antigenic peptides from various origins (e.g., viral infected or cancer cells) on their cell surface they are targeted and eliminated by effector cells of the immune system to protect the organism against the hazard.
