Abstract: BackgroundLactulose is a laxative which accelerates transit and softens stool. Our aim was to investigate its mechanism of action and use this model of diarrhea to investigate the anti‐diarrheal actions of ondansetron.MethodsA double‐blind, randomized, placebo‐controlled crossover study of the effect of ondansetron 8 mg in 16 healthy volunteers.
