Abstract: The enzymatic decarboxylation of α,β-unsaturated acids using the ferulic acid decarboxylase enzyme and prenylated flavin mononucleotide cofactor is a potential, environmentally friendly reaction for the biosynthesis of styrene and its derivatives.
