MECHANISMS IN ENDOCRINOLOGY: Estradiol as a male hormone

Abstract: Evidence has been accumulating that, in men, some of the biological actions traditionally attributed to testosterone acting via the androgen receptor may in fact be dependent on its aromatization to estradiol (E2).
