Mechanism of the effect of drops of suspension on the surface of parts in hydroabrasive treatment

In hydroabrasive treatment the liquid phase of a suspension exerts a twofold effect on the surface layer of the material of the treated part. MECHANISM OF THE EFFECT OF DROPS OF SUSPENSIONFirstly, under the effect of the air stream the jet of suspension disintegrates into drops which strike the surface of the material of the treated part [i].Secondly, the liquid component of the suspension exerts a chemical effect on the treated surface; this consists in sorptionai reduction of strength as well as in increased rate of corrosion processes by two or three orders of magnitude compared with the rate of corrosion under ordinary conditions [2].
