Mechanism of ferroptosis in hypertensive nephropathy

Abstract: Background: In recent years, it has been demonstrated that ferroptosis can be involved in a variety of kidney injury processes, but the role played by ferroptosis in hypertensive kidney injury is still unclear. The aim was to explore the mechanism of ferroptosis playing a role in hypertensive kidney disease and related signalling pathways. Methods: GSE37455 microarray data was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and preprocessed. Batch correction and differential analysis were performed o… Show more

“…KEGG pathway analysis further confirmed that the differential lncRNAs associated with ferroptosis were related to metabolism and the IL‐17 signaling pathway. Ferroptosis may contribute to hypertensive nephropathy through processes such as drug metabolism‐cytochrome P450, branched‐chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism, retinol metabolism, organic and amino acid metabolism, humoral immunity, and more 35,36 . It has been reported that ferroptosis‐related genes may impact the prognosis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) through the IL‐17 signaling pathway 37 .…”

“…[43] Ferroptosis associated with ALB may act in hypertension through pathways such as retinol metabolism, branched-chain amino acid metabolism, drug metabolism-cytochrome P450 and biological processes. [44] PE showed elevated gene and protein expression of NOX4, one of the causes of cellular ROS. Vascular pathogenic diseases have been conclusively associated with excessive ROS production.…”

“…All three databases used the keywords “non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease” and “liver cancer.” The related targets downloaded from these three databases were merged and then deduplicated to get the potential targets. Venny 2.1 (https://bioinfogp.cnb.csic.es/tools/venny/index.html) (Chen et al, 2022) online tool was used to draw Venn diagram to realize the core target between “Coptidis Rhizoma”, “Evodiae Fructus” and “NAFLD‐related liver cancer”.…”
