Mechanisation of the primary processing of watermelons without destroying the rind

Abstract: In the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the sown area of watermelon in recent years does not exceed 85 thousand hectares, although in the early 90s it was almost 132 thousand hectares, 2/3 of these areas are located in the southern regions. One of the key problems of industrial cucurbit crops production is the transition of production from largescale agricultural enterprises to small-scale private farms, the share of which today is more than 90%. At the same time, the transfer of prod… Show more

“…separator efficiency [25][26][27][28]. However, considerations such as the need for proper grain storage and processing before pumping [29], the potential for reduced capacity and increased equipment wear in new designs [30][31][32][33], and the importance of testing new designs [33], are essential for effective elevator operation.…”

“…Mechanical processes play a significant role in this technology. Seed purification, destruction and separation of the fruit and seed coats from the corсule and endosperm, shredding of the kernel, and its intermediate products are predominantly mechanical processes that prepare the material for intense physicochemical transformation (Tlevlessova et al, 2023). In modern production, the compaction method is one of the primary methods of plant oil production (Nogales‐Delgado et al, 2021).…”

“…The prevalence of agricultural pests in southeast Kazakhstan, including aphids, grasshoppers, and fungal pathogens, causes substantial yield losses and economic damage [27,28]. The reliance on chemical pesticides poses environmental concerns, compounded by climatic variability that complicates pest management.…”
