Mechanical Thrombectomy for Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis

Abstract: Randomized multiinstitutional clinical trials with larger number of participants are needed to sufficiently compare the effect of intrasinus thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy to standard-of-care anticoagulation therapy.

“…По данным отечественной и зарубежной на-учной литературы [9][10][11][12], современным подходом в лечении инфекционных венозных синус-тромбо-зов головного мозга является внутрисосудистый метод, который используется наиболее часто. Осуществление внутрисосудистой тромбэктомии возможно при наличии в составе МСС отделения интервенционной радиологии.…”

“…Haghighi et al, in a systematic review to evaluate the role of mechanical thrombectomy, reported that 62.5% patients had no or minor disability, 10.9% had a major disability, and 16.1% died after such procedures. [41] In a recent editorial by Murthy, it was concluded that endovascular therapy should be a treatment option in Neurology India / May 2015 / Volume 63 / Issue 3 patients who have neurological deterioration in spite of adequate supportive treatment and optimal AC, with no evidence of ICH, elevated intracranial pressure, or brain herniation. Mechanical thrombectomy may be the preferred option in patients with ICH.…”

“…Mechanical thrombectomy can be performed alone or in combination with pharmacological thrombolysis. 4,5 In spite of limitations, mechanical devices such as balloon angioplasty, rheolytic catheters or snares have sometimes been used to disrupt and remove clot material. [6][7][8] Recently, some researchers attempted to make use of the Penumbra System (PS; Alameda, CA, USA) in the treatment of CVST, [9][10][11][12][13] which proved to be a novel device for the revascularization of large vessel thromboembolic occlusions in acute ischemic stroke.…”
