Abstract:Silicon carbide foams with an average pore diameter of 650 nm and an inter‐pore ligament thickness of 150 nm have been synthesized using spherical polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) particle templating of a β‐SiC nanoparticle‐loaded polycarbosilane (PCS) preceramic polymer and the effect of crystallization temperature upon their microstructure and mechanical properties investigated.
