“…Epoxy resins are the most important thermosetting resins, used widely in industry, which exhibits low shrinkage, good mechanical and thermal properties, and excellent adhesion to a variety of substrate materials . The major drawback of the cured epoxy systems is its brittle nature, exhibiting poor resistance to impact and crack propagation .…”

“…It was evident that increase in fiber content increased the TS, TM and TST for both RPC and APC composites and the values are highest at 20% fiber content similar results were observed in the literature works. [ 18,33 ] When compared with the RPC composites, the APC composites recorded 15% increase in TS, 11% increase in TM and 2·74% increase in TST at 20% fiber content. At 20 wt%, facilitation of fibers as stress transfer agents in the polymer matrix is attributed to the improvement in tensile properties of the composite.…”

“…The importance of mathematical tools to predict the tensile properties of NFC composite was also discussed. Kommula et al [ 18 ] studied the influence of alkali treatment on a bunch of properties of the composite and concluded that improvement in the interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties were the results of the chemical modification. SEM, FTIR, X‐ray analyses, and TGA confirmed the decrease of hemicellulose content and disappearance of few chemical bonds.…”

“…The results clearly show that the addition of bio-filler has created reinforcing effect which is responsible for the increase in tensile strength. It can be realized that tensile strength (from 24 MPa to 35.56 MPa) and modulus (from 1200 MPa to 1960 MPa) gradually increased with increasing PSP weight content from 5 % to 15 % and alkali treatment with the concentrations from 2, 5 and 7 % than pure epoxy as per literature [17]. It was observed by many researchers that the Young's modulus increases with increase in filler loading [18][19][20][21][22].…”
