Mechanical Properties of Two Manganese Steels

Abstract: The article is focused on thermomechanical and plastic properties of two high-manganese TRIPLEX type steels with an internal marking 1043 and 1045. Tensile tests at ambient temperature and at a temperature interval 600°C to 1100°C were performed for these heats with a different chemical composition. After the samples having been ruptured, ductility was observed which was expressed by reduction of material after the tensile test. Then the stacking fault energy was calculated and dilatation of both high-manganes… Show more

“…Chojecki and Telejko experimentally analyzed the solidification property of high manganese steel and found shrinkage porosity formation in the matrix was probably due to the inadequate feeding induced by coarse dendrite . Cagala et al made a comparison on the solidification structure of TWIP steels with different manganese alloying, in which a more obvious shrinkage was observed in the specimen with higher manganese. It was inferred that the compactness of Fe–Mn–C TWIP steel should also be an important issue.…”

“…Steels with wide mushy zone spacing are liable to solidify as pasty pattern, which leads to the increase of shrinkage cavities between coarsening dendrites. Calage and Black made investigations on the compactness defect of high manganese TWIP steels by experiment . Lan numerically analyzed the solidification process of high carbon bearing steel previously and unveiled the mutual promotion between segregation and shrinkage .…”
