Mechanical properties of the (BaSnO3)x/Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10−δsuperconductor phase

Abstract: In this study, we carried out the Vickers microhardness for Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10−δ, (Cu0.5Tl0.5)-1223 superconducting phase added with BaSnO3 nanoparticles. BaSnO3 nanoparticles were prepared by the co-precipitation technique, while the superconductor samples of type (BaSnO3)xCu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10−δ, with 0.00 ≤ x ≤ 1.00 wt.%, were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. Vickers microhardness (Hv) was measured at room temperature and was computed by taking the average of three hits at diff… Show more

“…The Vickers microhardness (H v) values of the Zn 1−x Sm x O nanoparticles with x=0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.10 were measured in air using a digital microhardness tester (MHVD-1000IS) at room temperature. The applied loads F range from 0.25 N to 10 N for dwell time t=60 s. For each value of F, the mean value of three H v readings, taken at different locations of the sample's surface to ensure the accuracy of H v , was calculated using equation (1) by measuring the dimension of the diagonal length of the indentation d (μm) [27].…”

“…Different loads varying from 0.245 to 4.90 N, at a dwell loading time of 30 seconds, were applied. For each load, three different hits at different positions on the sample's surface were applied and Vickers microhardness value was determined using the given equation (Srour et al, 2017;Zalaoglu et al, 2017):…”

“…The results indicated that adding nano-SnO 2 up to 1.0 wt% improved the mechanical characteristics of CuTl-1223, whereas just a little amount of nano-In 2 O 3 , x = 0.1 wt%, increased the phase's Vickers hardness. The impact of nano-BaSnO 3 addition in CuTl-1223 superconducting bulk was examined by Srour et al [6]. The results indicated that microindentation Vickers hardness values rose up to x = 0.25 wt%, then dropped with a further rise in x till 1.0 wt%.…”
