Mechanical properties of concrete with recycled aggregates and waste glass

Abstract: The present investigation analyses the mechanical behaviour of concrete with recycled aggregates from precast debris and waste glass. The combination of both recycled materials permits an increased amount of recycled coarse aggregates reducing the loss of mechanical performance of the concrete, and enhances the environmental value of the final material. Four variables are considered: the percentage of recycled course aggregates, the amount of mortar adhered to their surface, the amount of cement replaced by re… Show more

“…It is possible to observe that the contribution of the factor GP Size is high for the compressive strength values at 90 days (32%), with both values being of high statistical significance (P near zero). However, for this same property, the factor % GP proved to have more participation than that found for mortar samples in previous studies [44].…”

“…Furthermore, concrete durability is affected by the high water absorption of RAC and the porous mortar adhering to the surface . To determine the advantages of recycled concrete, experts and scholars have enhance the performance of RCA through extensively studied treatment methods, such as CO 2 treatment, improvement of mixing technology and addition of admixtures (fly ash, silica fume, nano silica, and glass powder) …”
