Mechanical Properties of Arc Coatings Sprayed with Cored Wires with Different Charge Compositions

Abstract: The mechanical properties (hardness, cohesion, and residual stresses) of arc coatings designed for operation under conditions of boundary friction and corrosive-abrasive wear are analyzed. The coatings were formed by arc spraying cored wires (CW) with different charge compositions (the content of carbon, aluminum, and boron in CW charge varied). It is shown that the hardness of the coatings increases with an increase in the carbon content in them up to 1 wt. %, and then decreased due to an increase in the cont… Show more

“…To eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages of aluminum alloys, a number of technologies have been created that are already used in various industries. The most successful and widely used methods are galvanic chromium plating [1,2], thermal spraying [3][4][5], plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) [6][7][8][9][10], hard anodizing (HA) [11][12][13], and pulsed hard anodizing (PHA). However, all these methods have both advantages and disadvantages.…”

“…The noise factors. The mechanical operating conditions of the gear pump are described by three factors: material temperature (θ), torque (T), and material friction coefficient (µ), which can be tuned by surface modification methods[56,57]. The designed experiments can use these operating conditions as the input of FEM conditions as prescribed by an outer array only for noise factors (T, µ and θ);•Improve the quality of contact stress assessment.…”
