Mechanical properties, morphology and thermal conductivity of polyamide composites filled with graphene nanoplatelets, Al2O3and graphite

Abstract: In this work, PA6/PA66/GNP thermal composites were prepared via a melt blending method. Mechanical properties, morphology and thermal properties of PA6/PA66/GNP composites were investigated. The thermal conductivity of composite containing 50 wt-% of graphene nanoplatelets was measured as 5·03 W m -1 K -1 at 30°C. When the Al 2 O 3 was replaced for graphene nanoplatelets, the thermal conductivity of composites decreased, but the mechanical properties improved. The optimum amount of Al 2 O 3 which replaced grap… Show more

“…Polyamide‐66/CaCO 3 micro and nanocomposites were investigated, and the results showed that incorporation of CaCO 3 particles increased the modulus and tensile strength of neat PA66, however, decreased its yield and elongation at break . Research by other authors by adding SiO 2 , graphene, Al 2 O 3 , graphite, carbon fiber, wollastonite, glass beads, and carbon black fillers revealed the improvement in mechanical and tribological properties …”

“…Liu et al achieved thermal conductivity of 2.537 W/mK with 40 wt% carbon fiber in an PA66 matrix. Additionally, nano‐particles, such as graphene and carbon nano‐tubes, have been employed by numerous researchers . Work has also been done to improve the impact properties of the polyamide matrix which are especially weak below their glass transition .…”
