Effect of holmium oxide nanoparticle on the mechanical properties of epoxy resin composites

“…When the Ho 2 O 3 content was 1.5 wt.%, the Ho 2 O 3 /SCA/EP nanocomposites was elevated by 10.68% higher than the neat EP in the flexural strength. This dependence between flexural properties and surface-modified nanofiller was also mentioned in Zhu et al 42 Many EP nanocomposites prepared by adding nanofiller into the EP matrix exhibit similar dependence, for example, SiO 2 , 18 graphene, 17 and ZrO 2 , 36 etc. In this study, the present FTIR results indicate that surface-modification treatment of Ho 2 O 3 with SCA could improve the Ho 2 O 3 /EP bonding ability, thus further enhancing the bending properties of the EP.…”
