“…Lateral tracking is hampered because of the poor lateral wall contrast, but might be improved in future studies by adding extra acquisitions obtained serially in the transverse plane from different insonification angles. The anterior wall strains were higher than the posterior wall strains, which was as expected based on previous studies (Petterson et al 2021). The average strain values did not return to zero, which is likely caused by accumulation of displacement errors over time.…”

“…The porcine aorta was a slaughterhouse waste product. The porcine AA US data used in this study were originally obtained for a different study (Petterson et al 2021) and re-used for the temporal sequence performance assessment. Both phantoms were installed in a mock-loop circulation (Mascarenhas et al 2016).…”

“…Sommer et al ( 2008) reported the dissection energy value to be 76 kJ/m 2 in longitudinal and 51 kJ/m 2 in circumferential directions for an effective specimen radius of 20mm. For the descending thoracic aorta, the effective shear modulus is approximately 157 kPa (Petterson et al, 2021). Using these material parameters, the computed Γ/µR is about 0.024 and 0.016 in the longitudinal and circumferential directions respectively.…”

“…The principle of multi-perspective ultrasound (MP-US) imaging has been demonstrated on volunteers before in 2D, by acquiring and aligning single probe images of the human abdominal aorta over multiple angles [17], and in 3D by compounding different volume sets obtained in the heart [18]. The increased contrast improves both segmentation and motion tracking [18,19], but this technique requires besides a spatial alignment also a temporal registration of the cardiac cycle and is prone to motion related artefacts [20]. By performing high frame rate interleaved transmissions in 2D with two or more transducers, multi-perspective images can be directly compounded after spatial registration [21][22][23].…”
