As a result of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the introduction of distance learning, the issue of digital competence, which both modern educators and students should possess, has become especially relevant. Digital competence is important in the education system, because having it, students can adequately respond to modern global challenges and transformations. The study aims to analyze the state of digital competence of higher education applicants through the prism of modern challenges and opportunities. The work is based on the use of general theoretical and empirical research methods. Analysis, synthesis, abstraction, and concretization were important among theoretical methods. Based on the predictive method of research the main ways of digital competence formation and specifics of future use were characterized. At the same time, to determine the level of digital competence, a questionnaire and survey of students based on digital literacy diagnostic techniques were conducted. The results considered the problem of theoretical justification of the digital competence phenomenon, offered their own understanding of this term, determined the structure of formation of basic competencies in higher education applicants, based on the use of modern techniques, characterized the state of digital literacy of students. The results also indicate that mostly the respondents of the experiment had an average level of digital competence. Despite this, many respondents were not fully acquainted with the manipulative possibilities of information resources. The practical value of the work lies in the development of practical recommendations that can be applied in further work to improve the level of mastery of digital competence.

Background Purpose in life is recognized as a protective factor linked to an individual’s ability to thrive, supporting positive youth development and overall psychological well-being. The main goal of our study is to translate and validate the Claremont Purpose Scale (CPS) into the Arabic language, expanding its usefulness and contributing to a better global understanding of adolescent purpose in Arabic-speaking contexts. Methods Data for this cross-sectional study was collected via a Google Form link during November 2023. Lebanese adolescents aged between 14 and 18 years (N = 793, mean age of 16.08 ± 1.74 years, 62.4% females) were recruited using an online questionnaire and a snowball sampling technique. Results Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated that fit of the three-factor model of CPS scores was satisfactory: χ2/df = 131.31/51 = 2.58, RMSEA = .045 (90% CI .035, .054), SRMR = .034, CFI = .976, TLI = .969. Internal reliability was excellent (ω = .87; α = .86). Measurement invariance across sex groups was established at the configural, metric, and scalar levels. No significant difference was found between males and females in terms of CPS scores (37.20 ± 7.93 vs 37.76 ± 7.92, t(791) = − .97, p = .334). The CPS total score was significantly associated with lower irritability (r = − .66; p < .001), higher wellbeing (r = .51; p < .001) and depression-happiness (r = .43; p < .001), thus attesting to the good concurrent validity. Conclusion Findings suggest that the Arabic version of the CPS is a reliable and valid tool with which to capture the sense of purpose among Arabic-speaking adolescents. Therefore, it has a great potential for future researchers and practitioners who would ought to work on ways of improving the psychological functioning of youth drawn from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The system of medical education has demonstrated varying degrees of effectiveness around the world. Two approaches are dominant - the traditional approach, which consists of students acquiring knowledge, and the innovative approach, which implies a greater role of practical training. The traditional approach dominates in Asian countries, Russia, and Ukraine. The innovative approach is actively implemented in Western countries (USA, European Union). The study aimed to analyze the level of medical education among the most effective systems. For this purpose, 703 articles were analyzed, 41 of which formed the basis of this study. The most effective systems turned out to be French and Canadian. Within the education of these systems, the duration of education can be reduced to 3 years without losing the quality of education. The features of the innovative system of medical education are the selection of applicants, the duration and structure of the educational program, the methods of teaching medical disciplines. This result is possible due to the application of the small group effect with an emphasis on individual search, interpretation of information, and its application in practice. An important factor is that learning to practice begins in the first year. With the help of the test system, students' knowledge is regularly monitored and the opportunity to work in polyclinics as well as with real patients is provided. Based on the information analyzed, we recommend applying the basics of medical education in Canada to students in Pakistan. Certainly, it will help to achieve practical results in a short period of time.
