Measuring chemotherapy‐induced nausea and emesis

Abstract: Rings of five and six: Donor alkenyl rhodium carbenoids generated from 3,3‐dimethylcyclopropenylcarbinols exhibit high reactivity in intramolecular CH insertions. The reactions proceed under remarkably mild conditions, tolerate the presence of the free hydroxy group, and afford an efficient and stereoselective access to a variety of functionalized carbocycles and oxygen heterocycles.

“…The measurement of quality of life gives an overall assessment of the impact on the antiemetic on the wellbeing of the patient. This is particularly important not only because it serves to balance the efficacy and toxicity of the antiemetic but also because emesis impacts on other aspects of quality of life such as fatigue, appetite and sleep disturbance [26].…”

“…Since healthcare professionals tend to underestimate symptoms compared with patients [17,18], methods based on patient reports are more appropriate to accurately record the symptoms. Many tools based on patient reports have been shown to be effective in recording CINV symptoms, including the Morrow assessment of nausea and emesis (MANE) [24], Rhodes INRV [21], Osoba Nausea and Emesis Module based on the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTE) QLQ-C30 [25], CINE QOL questionnaire by Martin et al [26], and Functional Living Index-Emesis (FLIE) with a focus on QOL [27]. However, many of these tools are inadequate for clinical use, because daily recording is required, there are too many items to be answered, or there are too few items to be answered that distinguish symptoms in the Which tool is preferable to use in the future?…”

“…13 The module we used included four questions which asked the extent to which nausea and/or vomiting in the previous 24 hr 1) interfered with appetite, 2) affected sleep, 3) interfered with physical activities (including self care), and 4) interfered with social activities. There were four possible responses to each question, ranging from ''not at all'' to ''very much.''…”
