“…It adds important information not obtained with other outcome measures. [32]' The present longitudinal analyses showed that the BASMI remained stable during the 3 years of observation. Furthermore, the baseline BASMI turned out to be the most important variable to influence the 3-year outcome and course of spinal mobility.…”

“…[2] An alternative way to assess the (changes in) spinal mobility on the shorter term is the use of BASMI. The BASMI was developed to quantify the mobility of the axial skeleton in AS patients and to allow objective assessment of clinically significant changes in spinal movement and correlates with radiographic progression [20,32,33] Furthermore, the BASMI has been shown to discriminate well between patients with and without radiographic change due to AS and is sensitive enough to detect change between treatment groups. It adds important information not obtained with other outcome measures.…”

“…[7] If the ASDAS-CRP is not available, then the ASDAS version with erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ASDAS-ESR) can be used as an alternative. [7,8] Functional status is an important outcome parameter in patients with AS in order to monitor disease effects. [9] The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI) is a valid instrument that can be utilized to measure physical function in patients with AS, [8,9] one of the ASAS core elements that was recommended to be measured when following up AS patients.…”
