Measurement properties of the Brazilian versions of Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire and Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia in individuals with shoulder pain

Abstract: Purpose To verify the measurement properties of the Brazilian versions of Fear-avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ) and Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) in individuals with shoulder pain. Methods Individuals with shoulder pain (>18 years) were included in this study. Structural validity was verified by exploratory factor analysis, which was used to identify dimensionality of the FABQ and TSK. Test-retest reliability was assessed with intraclass correlation coefficient(3,1) and internal consistency wit… Show more

“…Only a few words were changed to facilitate understanding. One different version of the TSK-11 has been proposed by Al-Shudifat et al, 68 and a different version of the TSK-7 by Kamonseki et al 69 Since only 1 study investigated the psychometric properties of each of these specific versions in patients with MSK pain, they were not included in this review. Two different versions of the TSK-4 and TSK-TMD were also reported by Mintken et al 15 and La Touche et al, 70 respectively, and were then excluded as they did not meet the inclusion criteria.…”

“…There is no consensus regarding the MCID for TSK, but Monticone et al 58 proposed a value of 5.5 that corresponds to about 7% of the total score, which is close to our 8%. Several short versions exist [59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67] (TSK-13, TSK-12, TSK-11, TSK-7, TSK-6, TSK-5, TSK-4). All were developed using quantitative analyses.…”

“…The greater the reliability coefficient obtained, the smaller the measurement error, the more reliable the measuring instrument will be. On the other hand, the smaller the reliability coefficient, the greater the measurement error and the less reliable the measuring instrument used [26].…”
