Abstract:This dissertation describes a measurement of the shape of the boson transverse momentum distribution in pp → Z/γ * → e + e − + X events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The measurement is made for events with electron-positron mass between 70 < M ee < 110 GeV/c 2 and uses 976 pb −1 of data collected at the Fermilab Tevatron collider with the DØ detector. The shape is measured both for the inclusive sample and for the subset of events containing a boson with large rapidity. The large-rapidity distributio… Show more
“…We compensate for this mismodeling by reweighting the simulated events [76]. The correction is derived from the measurement of the Z boson transverse momentum in Z → e e events in the RunIIa and RunIIb data samples [77]. The reweighting of the W p T distribution is explained in 6.5.5.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
