Measurement of the Rate ofνe+dp+p+

Abstract: Solar neutrinos from (8)B decay have been detected at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory via the charged current (CC) reaction on deuterium and the elastic scattering (ES) of electrons. The flux of nu(e)'s is measured by the CC reaction rate to be straight phi(CC)(nu(e)) = 1.75 +/- 0.07(stat)(+0.12)(-0.11)(syst) +/- 0.05(theor) x 10(6) cm(-2) s(-1). Comparison of straight phi(CC)(nu(e)) to the Super-Kamiokande Collaboration's precision value of the flux inferred from the ES reaction yields a 3.3 sigma difference… Show more

“…Vacuum solutions are not favored, but are acceptable at 2.1σ (2.7σ) 9 . For the reader who (like us) often prefers pictures to tables, figure 2 shows the predicted energy dependence and day-night difference for the current best-fit LMA, LOW, and VAC solutions.…”

“…We include all the available solar neutrino and reactor oscillation data [1,2,3,4,5,6,7]. We also present "Before and After" comparisons of the globally allowed solutions using both the previous(1998) standard value of S 17 (0),the low energy cross section factor for the production of 8 B, and a precise new measurement [8] for this important quantity.…”
