During the development of the central nervous system (CNS), combinations of transcription factors and signalling molecules orchestrate patterning, specification and differentiation of neural cell types. In vertebrates, three types of melanin-containing pigment cells, exert a variety of functional roles including visual perception. Here we analysed the mechanisms underlying pigment cell specification within the CNS of a simple chordate, the ascidian Ciona intestinalis. Ciona tadpole larvae exhibit a basic chordate body plan characterized by a small number of neural cells. We employed lineage-specific transcription profiling to characterize the expression of genes downstream of fibroblast growth factor signalling, which govern pigment cell formation. We demonstrate that FGF signalling sequentially imposes a pigment cell identity at the expense of anterior neural fates. We identify FGF-dependent and pigment cell-specific factors, including the small GTPase, Rab32/38 and demonstrated its requirement for the pigmentation of larval sensory organs.

“…Thanks to the huge data sample collected in a short time period, the Belle collaboration successfully measured CP violation in B-meson decays. The Belle collaboration published the result of CP violation measurement in B-meson decays first in March, 2001, 58) with the accumulated luminosity of 10.5 fb −1 after about one year from the start of data taking. Although the statistical significance is still limited, the result indicated CP violation in B-meson decays.By using more data sample, 29.1 fb −1 , we came to the result showing the observation of CP violation in B-meson decay in August 2001 1) with more than 5σ significance.It should be noted that many decay processes of B-meson other than those mentioned before are included to get the final result.…”

We study CP violation in the two-body decay of a scalar tau into a neutralino and a tau, which should be probed at the LHC and ILC. From the normal tau polarization, a CP asymmetry is defined which is sensitive to the CP phases of the trilinear scalar coupling parameter A , the gaugino mass parameter M 1 , and the Higgsino mass parameter , in the stau-neutralino sector of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Asymmetries of more than 70% are obtained in scenarios with strong stau mixing. As a result, detectable CP asymmetries in stau decays at the LHC are found, motivating further detailed experimental studies for probing the supersymmetry CP phases.
