Measurement of the matrix element for the decayηηπ+π

Abstract: The Dalitz plot of η ′ → ηπ + π − decay is studied using (225.2 ± 2.8) × 10 6 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e + e − collider. With the largest sample of η ′ decays to date, the parameters of the Dalitz plot are determined in a generalized and a linear representation. Also the branching fraction of J/ψ → γη ′ is determined to be (4.84 ± 0.03 ± 0.24) × 10 −3 , where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

“…More recent measurements of γη (′) branching fractions have been reported by CLEO-c [51]. The last update of the ψ → γη ′ branching fraction has been given by BESIII [52] and reads B(ψ → γη (′) ) = (4.84 ± 0.03(stat) ± 0.24(sys)) x 10 −3 , which is consistent with the BESII value within 1.5σ and with the CLEO value within 1.4σ. The ψ ′ → γη (′) decays have also been observed by BESIII [53], but no new mixing angle estimate has been reported by the Collaboration.…”

“…Dalitz plot parameters of the η → η π + π − decay from the BESIII [12] experiment were used as input parameters for the generated events. A total of 10 5 γ + p → η p events, each with a photon beam energy of 2.5 GeV were generated in the phase space model for this analysis.…”

“…It is, therefore, important to measure the Dalitz plot parameters precisely with good statistics and resolution. The Dalitz plot parameters of the η → η π + π − decay have been measured in the experiments of the VES [11] and the BESIII [12] collaborations. GAMS-4π [13] and IHEP-IISN-LANL-LAPP collaborations [7] have reported the Dalitz plot parameters for the neutral decay mode (η π 0 π 0 ) of the η meson.…”

“…The total number of J/ψ events is (2.252 ± 0.028) × 10 8 , determined from inclusive J/ψ hadronic decays [15], and the total number of ψ ′ events is (1.06 ± 0.04)× 10 8 , determined from inclusive ψ ′ hadronic events [16]. The uncertainty on the number of J/ψ events is 1.3%, and the uncertainty on the number of ψ ′ events is 4%.…”
