Measurement of the flow properties of coals for in-situ gasification. Progress report, July 1978--September 1978. [As a function of water saturation and orientation]

Abstract: The effective and relative permeabilities of Hanna, Wyoming sub-bituminous coals and Texas lignites to nitrogen and carbon dioxide were measured as functions of water saturation and structural orientation at simulated overburden pressures of 200 psig and 400 psig.

“…The reduction of brown coal permeability with moisture content (refer to Fig. 8a) has been shown by Reznik et al (1978). The effects of coal rank and vitrinite content on coal mass permeability for high rank coal have been explained by Clarkson and Bustin (1997) and Wang (2007).…”

“…Especially for low rank coals, only few studies can be found (Gibson et al 2006;Viete and Ranjith 2006;Reznik et al 1978;Petukhov et al 1972). In case of Victorian brown coal, although many studies have been conducted for water permeability (Trollope et al 1965), very few studies can be found related to the effects of CO 2 on permeability variation.…”
