Measurement of Single- and Double-Spin Asymmetries in Deep Inelastic Pion Electroproduction with a Longitudinally Polarized Target

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the transverse momentum dependence of double-spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive production of pions in deep-inelastic scattering off the longitudinally polarized proton. Data have been obtained using a polarized electron beam of 5.7 GeV with the CLAS detector at the Jefferson Lab (JLab). Modulations of single spin asymmetries over the azimuthal angle between lepton scattering and hadron production planes phi have been measured over a wide kinematic range in Bjorken x and virt… Show more

“…It is reasonable to expect that in the near future an understanding of the fragmentation functions will be attained, which is as precise as the present knowledge on quark distribution functions. Very interesting prospects for the study of fragmentation processes were opened by the HERMES [13] and JLab [14][15][16][17] semi-inclusive measurements on nuclear targets, which will be followed up by the planned Electron-Ion Collider [18,19].…”

“…During past two decades HERMES, CLAS and COMPASS performed series of SIDIS measurements addressing LSAs [21,22,23,24] and TSAs [25,26,27,28,29]. Non-zero quark Sivers TMD PDFs have been extracted from HERMES [26] and COMPASS [25,27,30] data using both collinear [31] and TMD Q 2 -evolution approaches [32,33,34].…”

“…The presence of these mutations did not correlate with clinical features [Avakian et al, 2010; Shal- [Pansuriya et al, 2010;Cohen et al, 2013;Lee et al, 2013;Schaap et al, 2013]. However, novel potential driver mutations in the Capicua (CIC) have been identified as the key event to oligodendroglioma tumorogenesis in a background of IDH1/2 mutations [Yip et al, 2012].…”
