“…This method was previously described in more detail for the measurement of renin in bovine plasma, ovarian follicular fluid, and tissues [19][20][21]. The assay was standardized against a hog renin standard (Medical Research Council, Holly Hill, London, UK), and the renin concentrations are given as Goldblatt units (GU) per liter.…”

“…The method has been described and validated in detail for bovine and porcine plasma and ovarian follicular fluid, recently (Nielsen et al 1991b;Hagemann et al 1992). The assay was standardized against a hog renin standard (MRC, Holly Hill, London, UK).…”

“…Prorenin was activated by limited proteolysis with trypsin-TPCK (Worthington Biochemical, Freehold, NJ), freshly dissolved in 0.5 mol/L Tris-HC1 buffer (pH 7.5) containing 5 mmol/L calcium chloride and 2% human serum albumin (Statens Seruminstitut, Copenhagen, Denmark). In our routine procedure for porcine plasma (Nielsen et al 1991b) a 40 pL sample is incubated for 1 h at 0°C with 20 pL trypsin solution. The final trypsin concentration was 2 mg/mL (Nielsen et al 1991b).…”

“…7,[19][20][21][22][23][24][25] Given that endog- Error bars are present but extremely small. The study reported here involved a novel assay with which changes in plasma renin concentration relative to the clinical stresses associated with renal autograft ischemia-reperfusion injury in cats were detected.…”
