Measurement of light-ion production at the new Uppsala neutron beam facility

Abstract: Abstract.A collaborative research project has been launched on neutron-induced light-ion production measurements using the new Uppsala neutron beam facility. The available energy range of quasi mono-energetic neutron beams is extended up to 175 MeV. Double-differential cross sections (DDXs) of light-ion production (p, d, t, 3 He, and α) are measured using a conventional spectrometer system which consists of eight counter telescopes. Each telescope is composed of two silicon surface barrier detectors as the ∆… Show more

“…Using MEDLEY at the new Uppsala neutron beam facility [56], we plan to measure double-differential cross sections for light-ion production on oxygen, silicon, iron, lead, bismuth and uranium at 175 MeV. Thus far, we have collected data on 12 C(n,lcp) and presented preliminary double-differential cross sections at the ND2007 conference [57].…”

“…The crystals, toghether with the PDs, are mounted inside an aluminum tube and have been manufactured by Saint-Gobain, France. The CsI response function has been tested with 170 MeV proton beam and compared with Monte Carlo simulations, which is decribed elsewhere at this conference [16].…”
