Measurement of atomic L shell Coster-Kronig yields (f12,f23andf13) for some elements in the atomic number range 59⩽Z⩽90

Abstract: Non-radiative transitions cause changes in the generation of the intensity of the L lines. In order to investigate the physical quantities relevant to the L lines affected by the non-radiative transitions, experimental measurements were carried out using a Si(Li) x-ray spectrometer. Atomic L shell Coster-Kronig yields (f 12 , f 13 and f 23 ) for some elements in the atomic number range 59 Z 90 were determined. These selected measured semi-empirical values were also fitted by least squares to polynomials in Z o… Show more

“…Using the relation (3), the value of f 23 was found to be 0.119 ± 0.003. The other measured values were 0.100 ± 0.009 [12], 0.101 ± 0.010 [13], 0.125 ± 0.013 [14]. Our measured value was lying above the values determined by synchrotron [12,13] but very close to the semi-empirical value of Krause [2] and slightly less than the relativistic value calculated by Chen et al [15].…”

“…Recently, many researchers have investigated fluorescence cross-sections, the Coster-Kronig transitions, fluorescence yields for various elements [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. Chemical effects on the K β /K α intensity ratios and on the enhancement of the Coster-Kronig transitions have been investigated [12,13].…”
