Measurement and Modeling of Personal Exposure to the Electric and Magnetic Fields in the Vicinity of High Voltage Power Lines

Abstract: BackgroundThis work presents an experimental and modeling study of the electromagnetic environment in the vicinity of a high voltage substation located in eastern Algeria (Annaba city) specified with a very high population density. The effects of electromagnetic fields emanating from the coupled multi-lines high voltage power systems (MLHV) on the health of the workers and people living in proximity of substations has been analyzed.MethodsExperimental Measurements for the Multi-lines power system proposed have… Show more

“…The interface of Magnetic Fields in the software uses equation (5) to determine the value of magnetic vector potential A, and consequently, the values of all fields derived from it (the magnetic field H and the magnetic flux density B). The electric current of the three phases is as follows [11][12]14]:…”

“…The development and extension of very high voltage electrical networks (VHV) generate and multiply the interactions and electromagnetic problems [1][2] which have a negative effect on environmental risk and human health, moreover they could expose the peoples working around them to serious diseases [3][4][5].…”

“…The exposure to electromagnetic fields produced by high-voltage facilities was considered in several published papers [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12], focusing the attention to the electric and magnetic field strength, either by on-site measurements or by simulations. Different transmission lines configurations or exposure scenarios in substation were analyzed.…”

“…Likewise, a similar effect is suspected to happen for those who are living near or under high voltage electrical stations [ 40 ], where the electromagnetic waves may create such disturbances to the organisms [ 41 ] that could lead eventually to severe pathologies [ 42 , 43 ], especially if the organisms are sensitive to such influences.…”
