Blood bank plasma may constitute a useful and convenient source of complementary data for serological surveillance in adults of measles and other infections for which immunization and surveillance activities are implemented. This approach could be beneficial to other areas in Brazil and other countries where plasma from blood donors is available for surveillance. The use of residual sera from patients and plasma from blood donors represents a tradeoff between representativeness and timeliness as well as economy of resources.

Ulusal Aşı Sempozyumu (21-25 Ekim 2015, Ankara)'nda poster bildirisi olarak sunulmuştur.ÖZET Giriş: Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerine, diğer sağlık çalışanları gibi, bir kısmı aşı ile önlenebilen hastalıklar olmak üzere çok sayıda hastalık bulaşma riski vardır. Ülkemizde bu infeksiyonların tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde seroprevalansını gösteren yeterli çalışma ve tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin bağışıklanmasıyla ilgili bir program henüz bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada tıp fakültesi öğrencileri arasında suçiçeği, kızamık, kızamıkçık ve kabakulak seroprevalansını araştırmayı ve bağışıklama gereksinimi olanları saptamayı amaçladık. Materyal ve Metod: Çalışmaya 2015 yılında tıp fakültesinde bir, iki ve üçüncü sınıflarda okumakta olan 84 öğrenci alınmıştır. Uygulanan bir anketle bütün öğrencilerin hastalıkları geçirme ve aşılanma öyküleri kaydedilmiştir. Kızamık, kabakulak, kızamıkçık ve suçiçeği IgG antikor düzeyleri enzim immünassay yöntemiyle çalışılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya alınan 84 öğrencinin yaşları 18-27 arasında olup, öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20.9 ± 1.9 yıldır. Kadınların yaş ortalaması 20.4 ± 1.8 yıl, erkeklerin yaş ortalaması 22 ± 1.7 yıldır. Seropozitiflik oranları; kızamık IgG %90.4, kızamıkçık IgG %98.8, kabakulak %90.4, suçiçeği %95.2 olarak saptanmıştır. Hastalık geçirme-aşılanma öyküsü ile suçiçeği, kızamık, kızamıkçık, kabakulak seropozitifliği arasındaki ilişki incelenmiş olup p değerleri sırasıyla 0.399, 0.637, 0.084, 0.387 olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin klinik çalışmalara başlamadan önce aşıyla korunulabilen hastalıklara karşı korunma ile ilgili bilgilendirilmesi ve bağışık olma durumlarının araştırılması, bağışıklık saptanmayanlara aşı önerilmesi gerekli görülmektedir.Introduction: Medical students, as well as other healthcare workers, are at risk for various infectious diseases, some of which are preventable through vaccination. There is insufficient study indicating the seroprevalence of these infections among medical students in our country and there is no vaccination program. It was aimed in this study to investigate the seroprevalence of chickenpox, rubeola, rubella and mumps that can be overcome by medical students and determine those who need vaccination. Materials and Methods:The study included 84 students who were in the first, second and third years of medical faculties in 2015. With a questionnaire, disease and vaccination history of every student was noted. Measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox IgG antibody levels were studied by enzyme immunoassay. Results:The age of the 84 students studied ranged from 18 to 27 and the mean age of students was 20.9 ± 1.9. Mean age of the female students was 20.4 ± 1.8 and that of the male students was 22 ± 1.7. Seropositivity rates were as follows: measles IgG 90.4%, rubella IgG 98.8%, mumps 90.4%, chickenpox 95.2%. The relationship between ilness-immunization history and varicella, measles, rubella, mumps seropositivity was examined and the p values were found as 0. 399, 0.637, 0.084, 0.387, respectively.
