Mean Sea Level: The Effect of the Rise in the Environment

Abstract: Mean sea level is a significant phenomenon in geodetic science and oceanography. The sea level has experienced an unprecedented rise recently, and this increase can be attributed to the various human-induced activities (anthropogenic factors) ranging from deforestation to burning of fossil fuels and population increase. Several factors cause sea level rise, it has been identified that the thermal expansion of ocean water and the melting of glaciers add to the volume of water causing global sea level to rise, w… Show more

“…In response to these needs, this study employs new datadriven hybrid AI model(s) to provide predictions of the sea level in the FSM and the Globally, sea level rise (SLR) is caused by a combination of the thermal expansion of ocean waters and freshwater input from melting glaciers and ice sheets, increasing the total volume of water in the sea [4]. At a regional level, ocean currents, wind and pressure changes can contribute to SLR [5]. While international climate negotiations often focus on air temperature thresholds [6], even a 1.5 • C target is predicted to result in significant SLR.…”

“…Climate change is a formidable threat that manifests through escalating global temperatures, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and an uptick in extreme weather occurrences. These environmental changes have profound implications, impacting human health, agriculture, and economic stability [1]. In 2021, Iraq CO2 emissions from its electricity production, industrial, transportation, and building sectors totalled 153.18 million tonnes.…”
