Mean residence time of lagoons in shallow vegetated floodplains

Abstract: Lagoons interspersed within wetlands are expected to increase the residence time of the flow in the system which, in turn, will lead to enhanced pollutant removal thus ensuring a good ecological status of the ecosystem.
