Mean cerebral blood volume is an effective diagnostic index of recurrent and radiation injury in glioma patients: A meta-analysis of diagnostic test

Abstract: We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic values of mean cerebral blood volume for recurrent and radiation injury in glioma patients. We performed systematic electronic searches for eligible study up to August 8, 2016. Bivariate mixed effects models were used to estimate the combined sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratios, negative likelihood ratios, diagnostic odds ratios and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Fifteen studies with a total number of 576 participants were enrolled… Show more

“…specificity, and AUC, a value of 1.0 was considered as the highest diagnostic accuracy and AUC < 0.5 indicated a poor diagnostic accuracy. [17][18][19] The heterogeneity within studies was assessed by using the Q test and I 2 statistic. I 2 > 50% and/or P < 0.05 indicated significant heterogeneity.…”

“…We used the bivariate mixed‐effect model to pool the following index and their 95% confidence internals (CIs): sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and symmetric receiver operator characteristic (AUC) . For sensitivity, specificity, and AUC, a value of 1.0 was considered as the highest diagnostic accuracy and AUC < 0.5 indicated a poor diagnostic accuracy . The heterogeneity within studies was assessed by using the Q test and I 2 statistic.…”

“…Firstly, the threshold effect was evaluated by Spearman correlation coefficient, significant value of which means the existence of the threshold effect. [14][15][16] Heterogeneity was evaluated by chi-square and I 2 statistic, with the significance level at P < 0.05 or I 2 > 50%. 17 Sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratios (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and the 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were pooled using a bivariate random-effect model.…”

“…Statistical analyses were performed on Stata 13 (StataCorp LP, College Station, TX, USA), and the quality was assessed on Review Manager 5 (Nordic Cochrane Centre, Cochrane Collaboration, 2014). Firstly, the threshold effect was evaluated by Spearman correlation coefficient, significant value of which means the existence of the threshold effect . Heterogeneity was evaluated by chi‐square and I 2 statistic, with the significance level at P < 0.05 or I 2 > 50% .…”

“…The local recurrence and metastasis caused by radioresistance become a bottleneck of curative effect for patients with NPC [8,9]. As a complex heterogeneous group, the tumor has extensive information interaction with the surrounding environment [10][11][12]. Most tumor cells can form cell clusters (multicellular spheroids, MCS) under the condition of three-dimensional, its biological characteristics and the responses to the rays and cytotoxic drugs were significantly different from ordinary monolayer culture cells, but was close to cells in the body.…”
