MCC: A Model Transformation Environment

Abstract: In the model driven software development process, software is built by constructing one or more models and transforming these into other models. In turn these output models may be transformed into another set of models until finally the output consists of program code that can be executed. Ultimately, software is developed by triggering an intricate network of transformation executions. An open issue in this process is how to combine different transformation tools in a flexible and reliable manner in order to pr… Show more

“…Whereas [55] is a specific language for composing ATL transformations, the approach in [64] is more platform independent. Kleppe proposed the MCC environment [37], which offers a scripting language with composition operators enabling the design of transformation chains. In [66] the authors propose mechanisms to compose transformation chains by defining correspondence meta-models.…”

“…In [Kle06], Kleppe presents MDA Control Center (MCC), another approach that supports composition of transformation. Kleppe defines different components that form a composed transformation such as Creators (for reading input), Finishers (for storing output) and Transformers.…”

“…Given a Platform Definition Model (PDM) corresponding to some middleware, the PIM may then be translated to one or more platform-specific models (PSMs) for the actual implementation. The translations between the PIM and PSMs are normally performed using automated tools, like Model transformation tools [34]. In general, MDE appears as a useful approach towards reasoning about the impact of middleware on the behavior of software systems.…”
