MBI-D resistance management of Pyricularia oryzae using an application program incorporating benomyl

Abstract: This study's objective was to evaluate the contributions of benomyl and a melanin biosynthesis dehydratase inhibitor (MBI-D) mixture to preventing the re-emergence of MBI-D-resistant Pyricularia oryzae in rice fields. In nursery boxes, applications of diclocymet or mixtures of diclocymet and tiadinil showed low leaf blast incidences, but MBI-D-resistant isolates were re-selected. However, a management program applying both benomyl and MBI-D-related products to nursery box plants prevented the re-emergence of M… Show more

“…There was only one report regarding MBI-Dresistance management by Kimura and Fukuchi, which focused on the contribution of benomyl to the control of seed-borne P. oryzae. 10) There are three ways to control rice blast during the pathogen's life cycle: controlling seed-borne rice blast, controlling leaf blast in paddy fields, and controlling panicle blast. In a previous report, we focused on seed-borne rice blast treatments to manage the risk of MBI-D resistance.…”

“…Rendahnya produksi konidia akan menunda terjadinya epidemi karena produksi konidianya menjadi terhambat. Jamur P. oryzae sendiri dipilih berdasarkan nilai kerugian ekonomi yang disebabkannya, serta kesulitan dalam pengendaliannya, karena jamur ini dikenal memiliki kemampuan untuk membentuk ras baru dan menjadi resisten terhadap bahan aktif fungisida yang digunakan (Kimura & Fukuchi, 2018…”

“…Extensive research on methods to prevent and control rice blast has been undertaken worldwide. At present, rice blast is mainly controlled by resistant varieties and by both chemical and biological control resources (Kusajima et al 2018;Kong et al 2018;Kimura and Fukuchi 2018;Javaid et al 2019). Among these, the application of chemical fungicides is effective, but it presents challenging downsides, such as the presence of fungicide residues in rice grains, increased production costs and a harmful impact on human health and the environment (Liu et al 2017;Wu et al 2018).…”
