Maximization of the conversion to m-toluenesulfonic acid in liquid-phase sulfonation

Abstract: As part of the development of a process for immobilizing hazardous wastes in a polyester matrix, an analysis is provided here for the prediction of temperature profiles during curing of the emulsion, by consideration of reaction exotherms and polymerization kinetics. Such analyses should be helpful in the optimal design of burial containers.
