Abstract:Electron micrsocopic studies on the salivary glands of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopicuts mosquitoes infected with chikungunya virus showed vacuolization in the cells of this organs and numerous chikungunya virions as crystalloid structures in intracytoplasmic area, revealing the spherical particle of 55-69 nm in diameter and the electron-dense internal structure of 41-48 nm in diameter.
