MATURAÇÃO OVARIANA DE Astyanax altiparanae APÓS DESOVA EM SISTEMA DE RECIRCULAÇÃO DE ÁGUA

Abstract: In this study, we evaluated the possibility of obtaining successive Astyanax altiparanae spawns under laboratory conditions. In order to do so, 104 specimens were randomly distributed into four boxes (10 females and 16 males each) and kept in a recirculation system at an average temperature of 29.24 ± 0.42 °C, under natural photoperiod, for 30 days. “…Nevertheless, the possibility of spawning in the studied area cannot be completely excluded because the duration of the process of postovulatory complex reabsorption is usually rapid and difficult to identify by sampling from the natural environment. In Centropomus undecimalis , the resorption process has been thoroughly investigated, and the disappearance of the complexes has been described to occur 48 hr post spawning (Grier et al, ); furthermore, the process seems to take a few days in the few tropical migratory fish studied, such as Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum (Romagosa, Batlouni, Borella, & Leonardo, ), Astyanax bimaculatus lacustris (Drummond, Bazolli, Rizzo, & Sato, ) and Astyanax altiparanae (Lira et al, ).
