Abstract: Teaching and understanding mathematics is a significant concern in any educational system. Largish efforts are made by various researchers to find out the causes of students' performance in the subject. Despite every one of these endeavors issues still, endure. The researchers used a descriptive-correlational design to gather data through an adopted survey tool for study habits and attitudes. “…The finding of the study is similar to Guinocor et al (2020) where they found out that there is a significant positive high correlation between the study orientations of the students considering their academic performance in terms of their Graded Point Average (GPA) in Mathematics subjects. It can be seen in Table 4 that the profile of the respondents such as age, sex, length of service, educational attainment, and seminars and training attended at regional levels, division level, and school level post no relationship.…”

“…Thus, they are left to instead read and do their assignments for the morrow's drills and exercises. Cognizant to this, a related study had found out that there was a significant association between a study orientation and academic performance, wherein students with high study orientation tend to achieve more than those with lower study orientation (Guinocor at al., 2020). As to this group, one probable root as to the attainment of students' concept building of the subject matter could be mapped out from their studying the lesson ahead of time -just like what the experimental group has shared.…”

“…In the Philippines, students exhibit poor engagement in mathematics class. In one of the institutions in Cebu, some college students enrolled in mathematics-related programs are disengaged in their mathematics classes and have demonstrated a lack of motivation and enthusiasm in learning many course ideas [7]. Moreover, in Cotabato City, 49.58% of university students show low engagement in mathematics subject as a result of being preoccupied with their cell phones by scrolling on social media sites instead of studying their lessons [8].…”
