Mathematical Modelling for the Quality Evaluation of Baikal Skullcap Root

Abstract: In this paper, a model for evaluating the quality of Baikal skullcap root based on the chromatographic fingerprint and pharmacological effect correlation mode was established by using multivariate polynomial fitting technique. This result is new and the accuracy of the model is tested by comparing the modeled results with the experimental data. In addition, a related piece of software was developed. This paper also provides us with a new modelling method for the quality evaluation of traditional Chinese herbal… Show more

“…Recently, the quality control method of herbal medicines based on chromatographic fingerprint analysis technique has been attracting more and more researchers' attentions (e.g. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9], and the citations that appear in them). Among these references, based on the Chromatographic Fingerprint and Pharmacological Effect Correlation Mode (CFPECM), [5] obtains a new quality evaluation model of Baikal skullcap root by using multivariate polynomial fitting technique, and establishes the correlation between chromatographic fingerprints and pharmacological effect (i.e., antibacterial rate).…”

“…In [5], based on the Chromatographic Fingerprint and Pharmacological Effect Correlation Mode, a quality evaluation model of Baikal skullcap root by means of multivariate polynomial fitting technique was obtained as the following form, , 1 1 are integers. This model characterized the correlation between the chromatographic fingerprint data and pharmacological effect data (i.e., antibacterial rate) of Baikal skullcap root.…”
