Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis of SPIM Drive Using Modified SVPWM Technique

Abstract: This paper presents a modified space-vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique for a five-level inverter that provides complete control over the multiple space-vector voltages of a six-phase inverter. This technique involves splitting six phases into two three-phase five-level inverters connected in parallel. A six-phase induction motor (SPIM) drive with a distributed neutral is considered as the load. This paper also presents a comparative analysis between the proposed and conventional SVPWM inverter-fe… Show more

“…In the proposed system 5-level six-phase inverter is controlled using an optimized dual three-phase SVM technique. Usually, a six-phase five-level inverter has 5 6 space-vectors, but when these six-phase space-vectors are divided into two three-phase, then the total number of space-vectors is reduced to 5 3 for each three-phase SVM for controlling the MLI, which consequently reduces the time required for the execution of control algorithm and complexity of the system. 26 The 5-level output voltages of the inverter range from −2V (L 2 ), −V (L 1 ), 0, +V (H 1 ), +2V (H 2 ).…”
