Mathematical Model of Two-Degree-of-Freedom Direct Drive Induction Motor Considering Coupling Effect

Abstract: -The two-degree-of-freedom direct drive induction motor, which is capable of linear, rotary and helical motion, has a wide application in special industry such as industrial robot arms. It is inevitable that the linear motion and rotary motion generate coupling effect on each other on account of the high integration. The analysis of this effect has great significance in the research of two-degreeof-freedom motors, which is also crucial to realize precision control of them. The coupling factor considering the c… Show more

“…Moreover, because a doubly salient topology is utilized, huge rotary torque ripple and linear force ripple are also issues that need to be overcome. Another 2DoF RL motor [6,7] is composed of two arc-shaped stators of the rotary and linear parts, respectively, and a solid rotor coated with a copper layer. Moreover, the proposed 2DoF split-stator induction motor with a solid mover is easy to manufacture at low cost, although the efficiency should be improved further for an industrial application.…”

“…One category is 2DoF motors with crossed RL magnetic fields. Many studies have investigated this type of system, including studies on helicalwinding 2DoF motors [4,5], salient-pole 2DoF motors [6,7], and double-stator 2DoF motors [8][9][10]. In reference [11,12], high-temperature superconducting field windings are imbedded in the stator to achieve the linear motion, but special working conditions are needed.…”
