Maternal perception in terms of newborns with congenital malformations: a descriptive study

Abstract

RESUMOObjetivo: identificar a percepção materna sobre o neonato internado em unidade de terapia intensiva com diagnóstico de malformação congênita. Método: estudo descritivo, transversal, com abordagem qualitativa, realizado em uma unidade de terapia intensiva. Amostra composta por mães de neonatos internados por malformação congênita. Utilizou-se uma entrevista semiestruturada como instrumento de coleta de dados.Os depoimentos foram gravados, transcritos e analisados por meio da Análise de Conteúdo. Resultado:observou-se que a mãe requer uma abordagem mais humanizada no momento da revelação do diagnóstico, tendo este valor negativo no meio familiar. Emergiram três categorias de análise: o momento da revelação do diagnóstico; a linguagem materna sobre o diagnóstico; a abordagem do profissional no momento do diagnóstico. Conclusão: os profissionais têm uma grande dificuldade em transmitir o diagnóstico, e a mãe em lidar com a situação.
