“…National data likely underestimate actual cannabis use during pregnancy, given concerns in communities where cannabis use is illegal that disclosure may result in being reported to child protective services (Woodruff et al, 2021 ). Nonetheless, nationally, it is estimated that 4.4% of women report cannabis use both before and during pregnancy (Sood et al, 2021 ). In states where recreational cannabis use is legal, 9.8% of women report cannabis use prior to pregnancy (Ko et al, 2020 ).…”

“…In a study from the CDC's PRAMS, ∼4% of pregnant women selfreported use of marijuana in pregnancy across 6 states, most commonly for selfmanagement of nausea/vomiting or mental health. [73][74][75] However, on an individual state level, use in pregnancy ranges from 3% to 12%. 74 A survey from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) from 2014 demonstrated that 3.9% of pregnant women reported marijuana use in the past month.…”

“…5 Cannabis use during pregnancy is increasingly common, 6 and several studies show an association between nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and cannabis use. [7][8][9] The use of cannabis specifically as a treatment for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy is increasing, 6,10 and cannabis is the most used drug during pregnancy in the United States, 10,11 but little is known about how pregnant people make the choice to use cannabis or how interpersonal interactions influence this decision.…”
