In order to promote sustainable production by using secondary raw material from existing material stocks, complementary to primary raw material, information about the future availability of secondary resources constitutes a prerequisite. In this study, a dynamic material flow model of historic aluminium (Al) flows in Austria is combined with forecasts on future Al consumption to estimate the development of old scrap generation and in-use stocks until 2050. In-use stocks are estimated to increase by 60 % to 515 kg/cap. by 2050 assuming a scenario of moderate economic growth. Old scrap generation in 2050 would thereby more than double (up to 30 kg/cap.) in comparison to the 2010 amounts. Despite this substantial increase in old scrap generation, industrial self-supply from old scrap will probably not exceed 20 %, and final consumption selfsupply of Al will not exceed 40 % given present conditions. Opportunities and limits of increasing self-supply through higher collection rates and lower scrap export levels are investigated in this study as the European Raw Material Initiative considers enhanced recycling to be a key measure to ensure future resource supply. Based on these analyses, a self-sustaining Al supply from post-consumer Al is not expected if current trends of Al usage continue. Therefore, comprehensive resource policy should be based on a profound understanding of the availability of primary and secondary resources potentials and their dynamics.

In this study, weight reduction potential of different seat construction designs has been evaluated for intercity bus. The passenger seats were designed as CAD model. Finite element method was used to simulate the tests of FMVSS and APTA standards. Total deformation and maximum stress parameters, which were obtained by test simulations in FEA software, were analyzed to verify seat designs. This study results show that using aluminum alloy for seat design instead of St-37 steel provide 50% weight reductions for seat design. This weight reduction can reduce CO 2 emissions and also provide fuel efficiency over the vehicle"s operating life. Keywords

Resumo: A cada dia o avanço tecnológico nos leva a encruzilhadas como a construção de veículos mais leves, com menor consumo de combustível e mais seguros. Neste sentido, materiais compósitos poliméricos são materiais usados atualmente em diferentes aplicações nas quais a leveza combinada com um alto módulo de elasticidade são características importantes. Poliamidas reforçadas com fibras de vidro se apresentam como materiais de grande futuro em aplicações automotivas. Desta forma, torna-se importante o estudo do comportamento deste tipo de material quando submetidos a processos de usinagem. Dentre os processos de usinagem o processo de furação é um dos mais utilizados nos componentes de material compósito. Neste trabalho será analisada a influência do avanço, da velocidade de corte e da geometria da ferramenta na força de avanço, pressão específica de corte e desvios dimensionais do furo realizado. Os testes foram realizados em poliamida sem reforço (PA6) e reforçada com 30% fibra de vidro (PA66-GF30) utilizando brocas de carbonetos sinterizados (K20) com ângulos de ponta diferente. Os resultados apontam claramente para a melhor usinabilidade do material reforçado em comparação ao sem reforço. Palavras-chave: Compósitos, polímeros reforçados, usinabilidade, furação, danos. Machining Behavior of Polymer Composites Materials for Automotive ApplicationsAbstract: The continuous technological advance has led to the challenge of building lighter and safer vehicles, but with lower fuel consumption. Within this scenario, polymeric composites are materials currently used in different applications, where lightweight combined with high modulus of elasticity are important features. Polyamide reinforced with glass fiber face a promising future for automotive applications, thus becoming important to study the behavior of this type of material when subjected to machining processes. Among the machining processes, drilling is one of the most widely applied to composite materials. In this work the influence of feed rate, cutting speed and tool geometry on thrust force, specific cutting pressure and hole dimensional deviations is investigated. The tests were performed on unreinforced polyamide (PA6) and on polyamide reinforced with 30 wt % glass fiber (PA66-GF30) using tungsten carbide drills (K20) with different tip angles. The results clearly indicate the superior machinability of the reinforced material, compared with the unreinforced polyamide. Gerais -UFMG, Av.
