Material Fatigue Research for Zirconia Ceramic Dental Implant: a Comparative Laboratory and Simulation Study in Dentistry

Abstract: This research focuses on the biocompatible zirconia ceramic (ZrO2) material and load behavior causing fatigue on the surface of the dental implant in dentistry. Fatigue fracture and wear have been identied as some of the major problems associated with implant loosening, stress-shielding and ultimate implant failure. A static and cyclic fatigue testing of ceramic dental implant in laboratory conditions for this investigation were carried out according to the ISO protocol 14801 under worst-case conditions. A nit… Show more

“…A parametric FEA model was created for the structural analysis procedure and to determine the amount of distortion. Today, FEA method is applied in modeling of the mechanical behavior of materials and is used to determine the process constraints [7][8][9]. The functioning parameters, integrated in design limitations for a required scheme were calculated by mechanical evaluation of the scraping blade using AN-SYS software (version 18.00).…”

“…On the other side, warranty regulations and the end user expectation are increasing day by day. Several fatigue life prediction studies exist [1][2][3] in academical and industrial research areas, which depend on different approaches like cyclic fatigue, road load data and ext. road load data.…”
